How do you turn song lyrics into a PowerPoint slideshow?
Short answerOpen Lyslide (free, no signup, no install), paste a song's lyrics — or type the title and let AI Search fill them in. Leave a blank line where each slide starts, set the running order in paragraph mode, then export PowerPoint (PPTX), which also opens in Keynote and Google Slides.
Steps
- Add the song and its lyrics
Press "Add Song"; if it opens on My Songs, choose "Create new song" at the foot. Paste the lyrics into the Lyrics box — or type a title (an artist or a lyrics-page URL also works) and press AI Search. Nothing is saved until you press "Add Song" again. Read AI-found lyrics through once: it gets lines wrong. → Add a song and find its lyrics - Mark where the slides break
A blank line starts a new slide. A line starting with#names a section (#Verse1,#Chorus), and sections are what you reorder and repeat later. Section names are free text, so#Introworks as well as#Chorus. → Text mode: # and blank lines - Let it place the breaks (optional)
Auto-paginate splits slides that are too long and merges ones that are too short, across the whole song. It needs section headings first. Text that would overflow is flagged before export, never cropped. → Automatic sectioning and pagination - Set the running order
Open paragraph mode, click a section to add it to the order and click it again to repeat it, as you would a chorus. "Suggest order" fills the order from your section names. A song with no running order is left out of the exported file, and the export tells you which. → Paragraph mode: the running order - Choose a background and the slide shape
Upload your own image, pick a free Pexels photo or generate one with AI; you can use your own images without an account. Choose 16:9 for most projectors or 4:3 for older ones. Type is set once and applies to every slide. → Choose a background - Check the preview, then export or present
The preview, the PDF and the PPTX come from one layout engine, so they cannot disagree. Press "Export" for PowerPoint (PPTX), PDF slides or one image per slide — or press Present, then F for full screen. → Export: choosing a format

FAQ
- Is it really free, and do I need to install or sign up for anything?
- It is free for good — no paywall, no subscription — and it is a web app, so there is nothing to install. You can build and export a whole setlist without an account.
- Will the file open in PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides?
- Yes. The PPTX is built to survive PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, ProPresenter, EasyWorship and Canva. PDF slides (one per page) and a zip of one image per slide are there too.
- Does AI Search find the lyrics for me?
- It fills the Lyrics box from a title, an artist or a lyrics-page URL, but it gets lines wrong, so read the result before you add the song. AI features share one allowance, and your remaining uses are shown in Settings & More → My content → AI Usage. Pasting your own lyrics does not use it. Without an account the allowance is shared with everyone on your internet connection and can run out; signing in gives you your own.
- Can I show the slides without PowerPoint?
- Yes. Press Present, then F for full screen or S for a second window on the projector; Space and the arrow keys advance slides, as in PowerPoint.
- Is it only for churches?
- It was built for church worship teams, so a few features — a CCLI or copyright field, OpenLyrics and FreeShow export — are aimed at them. Nothing stops you using it for any lyrics: the slides are text on a background.
- Am I allowed to show a song's lyrics?
- Lyslide has a field for CCLI or copyright text, which prints on every slide. Whether you may show a particular song at your event depends on its licence, which Lyslide cannot grant — check with the rights holder or your licensing body.
